Author Talk & Signing: The Bridge Ladies by Betsy Lerner
Downtown Library, Monday May 9th at 7:00 pm

Meet Betsy Lerner, author of The Bridge Ladies, a Buzz Book 2016, as she visits the Boca Raton Downtown Library on her multi-city book tour. Lerner, a literary agent, former editor, and celebrated writer, will be at the library on May 9 for an author talk and book signing. She is the author of two non-fiction books, Food and Loathing and The Forest for the Trees, and has won numerous awards, such as the Thomas Wolfe Poetry Prize, an Academy of American Poets Poetry Prize, and the Tony Godwin Publishing Prize for Editors Under 35, and was one of PEN's Emerging Writers. Downtown Library Art Exhibit
"Dirt Road Memories" by Doris Rodriguez
April 5-May 5, 2016
The Boca Raton Public Library is pleased to announce a new art exhibit, "Dirt Road Memories" by South Florida-based artist Doris Rodriguez. Visitors to the Downtown Library will be impressed by the works of this artist, who draws inspiration from what affects her strongly: the urban experience, personal and social intimacy, economic and social hierarchy, isolation, identity, and how politics and media affect our perception of ourselves and each other. Early Literacy Backpacks
A new program, funded by the Friends of the Library, aims to help children up to age 5 develop the early literacy skills necessary to prepare them for kindergarten. Parents and caregivers with valid BRPL library cards can borrow backpacks filled with themed items that help to develop skills for successful reading readiness.
